New York CNN —Members of SAG-AFTRA, the Hollywood actors union, have ratified a new contract with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, which represents major studios and streamers, the union said on Tuesday. Hollywood actors and producers reached the tentative deal on November 8, after tumultuous negotiations throughout the year. The actors union strike ended on midnight after the deal was tentatively reached, tentatively concluding one of the most disruptive strikes in Hollywood’s history. But the actors’ contract negotiations didn’t last long, breaking down on October 11 before returning later in the month. On Wednesday, November 8, the actors union announced they had reached a tentative agreement, allowing actors to soon return to work.

CNN —Robin Williams’ daughter Zelda Williams says recreations of her late father made with artificial intelligence are “disturbing.”She took to Instagram on Sunday to explain her thoughts on AI, which is one of the key contract issues in the SAG-AFTRA strike against Hollywood studios. “I am not an impartial voice in SAG’s fight against AI,” Williams wrote. “I’ve witnessed for YEARS how many people want to train these models to create/recreate actors who cannot consent, like Dad. “I’ve already heard AI used to get his ‘voice’ to say whatever people want and while I find it personally disturbing, the ramifications go far beyond my own feelings. SAG-AFTRA resumes talks with the Hollywood studios on Monday.

While Hollywood has ground to a halt due to parallel writers’ and actors’ strikes, there’s a US-based series that is being allowed to continue to production. “The Chosen,” a faith-based series about the life of Jesus, “allows us to see Him through the eyes of those who knew Him,” according to the series. Season 4 is entirely independent and 100% funded by donations,” the production stated in another tweet. During the strikes, writers and actors are prohibited from working and promoting their projects produced under contract with major studios.
